Artist's Comments

There seem to be a lot of Photoshop user stamps, but I couldn't see one for Paint Shop Pro, so I decided to make one.

Admittedly, I can sometimes be a rather disgruntled PSP user, due to differences between Corel (the current company) and Jasc (the company which created PSP and updated it through 9 versions). But current-company griping aside, it is a good piece of software, and what I use.

PSP users may also appreciate my gallery of Paint Shop Pro scripts and add-ons. [link]

Finally someone! :D (I was going to make one but I forgot.)

I love PSP, the latest version I have is 6.0 but I still think it's very good. I know it almost inside out. And I hate the way most people look at good digital drawings and automatically assume they're made with Photoshop, as if it were the only program on the face of the planet. I use Painter Essentials for most stuff, but I need PSP too all the time.

Ehehe - sorry for the minirant, but I know that my art wouldn't even exist without PSP. :D

PSP 6.0 was pretty good... if I remember right, that's when the vector controls first became a significant part of the program. (I started with version 3.0... yikes.) And yeah, Photoshop gets all the attention, but they pretty much are the 800 pound gorilla in the field. Decent software, really, I just can't justify the price for both it and Illustrator, when PSP does the job so well.

Yes, that's true, it was the first time they emphasized vectors.

Still, no matter how good Photoshop may be, it's still much more about what a person needs to do with it, and can do. I don't use layers at all in drawings (I do in other stuff) so I want more emphasis on the brushes, and as far as I know, PSP 6.0 has the easiest way of making them. And so on. :)

I've witnessed complete silence many times, and it's not silent at all. It's a ringing in your ears that keeps telling you that you're alone.

PSP <333 I still have 8, the Jasc version. Like it better than Photoshop (which has waaay too many features I'll never use)
